How to support wall cabinets using a car jack
Mounting cabinets on the wall can be tricky unless you have another person to help support the cabinets while you attach the fasteners.
One solution could be to mount a timber rail on the wall that supports the cabinets, but then you’ll have the problem of filling or covering the screw holes once you have removed the rail.
However, there is a simple trick that allows you to hang cabinets on your own without having to drill extra holes in the wall.
Simple set up a car jack on blocks on the benchtop below and position the cabinet on top, resting it against the wall or the other cabinets.
Adjust the cabinet to the exact height using the mechanism, then secure it to the wall using fasteners.
This trick is much better than creating an unstable stack of offcuts to get the perfect height, and also much more precise as you can make minute adjustments to perfectly align the cabinet.
