The hard part of laying pavers is excavating the site and laying the road base.
Make sure you lay the road base to a minium of 100mm.
Before excavating, ring 1100 to find out where your phone, gas, water and sewerage lines are so you don’t run into trouble later on.
Excavating 175mm allows for the 100mm of road base, 25mm of sand and the 50mm pavers.
If paving around a swimming pool or a driveway, use concrete as the base material instead of road base.
You’ll need a plate compactor to compact the road base into one solid mass.
Screed the sand to 25mm.
